Race Engineered. Race Proven.
Cobalt XTR and XR-Series advanced carbon-ceramic friction composites represent
a significant advancement in the evolution of motorsports brake pad
technology. The XR-Series has unparalleled consistency and friction stability
over the broadest operating temperature range in the industry (50°F to over
1600°F). Furthermore, unlike traditional resin-based compounds, Cobalt XR-Series
friction composites do not require bedding/burnishing to achieve optimal
performance, and exhibit consistent performance throughout the life of the
pad.
XTR
Applications: Prototypes, GT Sports Car, Open Wheel/Formula Cars
Description: XTR combines an aggressive initial bite/attack and
extremely high sustained torque levels with very good modulation
and threshold control to deliver unparalleled decelerations rates
across a broad range of operating conditions. Cobalt's proprietary
Thermo-Velocity Design Profile yields a consistent transition from
strong initial bite to high, sustained torque levels, dramatically
reducing the possibility of wheel lock-up. Pedal response is, on
average, 6-8% faster than traditional resin-based materials (i.e.
measured as time required to achieve stable torque levels at
1000psi line pressure), while the generated torque curve profile
is both steeper and more linear across line pressures of 200psi to
1200psi, and initial disc temperatures of 50F to 1600F.

XR1
Applications: Prototypes, GT Sports Car, Open Wheel/Formula Cars
Description: XR1 is a high torque compound with an aggressive
initial bite, similar in overall design and performance to XTR,
but with a 10% reduction in average friction output. Improved
modulation & threshold control characteristics. Equally
well-suited for vehicles with active aerodynamic profiles as well
as limited down force platforms due to the direct line
pressure-to-generated torque relationship.

XR2
Prototypes, GT
Sports Car, Open Wheel/Formula Cars
Based on the
XR1 formulation, XR2 features a high torque level, but with a
smoother, less aggressive initial bite. Torque curve profile is
virtually identical to XR1 on a temperature and line-pressure
basis, but with a slight reduction in average friction. Equally
well-suited for front and rear axle use; as a rear application,
XR2 balances well with the XTR or XR1 in the front.

XR3
Prototypes, GT
Sports Car, Open Wheel/Formula Cars
XR3 is a highly
versatile, medium-high torque compound with very good cold
performance and high fade resistance. Excellent modulation and
wear characteristics make XR3 the perfect choice for HPDE, Club
Racing (Showroom Stock, Sport Racer, Formula Car, etc.), and
moderate to lower inertia applications with limited brake hardware
options.

XR4
Applications: Prototypes, GT Sports Car, Open Wheel/Formula Cars
Description: XR4 is a medium torque compound sharing the same
application basis as the XR3, but at lower overall friction
levels. Slightly rising torque profile at low to moderate line
pressures, while transitioning to a virtually flat profile at
higher line pressures for unmatched friction stability.

GTS
Prototypes, GT
Sports Car, Open Wheel/Formula Cars
Cobalt GT-Sport
is a class-winning autocross compound exhibiting very good cold
performance, strong/solid initial bite, linear pedal feel with
excellent modulation, and high fade resistance. Along with its
excellent performance, the GT-Sport compound is rotor friendly and
has very good wear rates over a broad operating temperature range.
For the serious autocross driver, the GT-Sport will let you take
back the time under braking! NOTE: while suitable for
spirited street driving (i.e. canyon and mountain drives, etc.) it
is not recommended or designed for everyday street driving.
Designed for Autocross, HPDE and Light Race events.
